The Conventional Method in the Air Cargo Industry
The traditional method of securing cargo in the air cargo industry involves using large ULDs with heavy wooden constructions made from square timber to stabilize the cargo. These wooden frames, while effective, introduce several drawbacks. Firstly, their weight increases fuel consumption and reduces aircraft efficiency. Additionally, their large size makes them cumbersome to handle and store, occupying valuable space at both terminals and in-flight. The wood itself poses a risk of splintering or damage during handling, which can compromise both cargo and safety. Moreover, the use of wood contributes to environmental concerns due to deforestation. Lastly, the manual labor required for handling these wooden structures increases operational complexity and costs.
